Weston, Ontario -  Britt Pronk of London, Ontario fired a three-under par 68 to claim victory today at the Beck's Non-Alcoholic Beer Men's Champion of Champions at Weston Golf and Country Club.

The 19 year old topped the elite field of Club Champions from across the province, defeating second-place Ron Pearson of Kitchener by one stroke. Waterloo native Rob Cowan completed the sweep by Western Ontario golfers with his one-under par third place finish.  Pronk’s performance beat out several former Champion of Champions winners including Weston’s own Warren Sye (1984, 1991) who finished tied for eighth with a score of 74, and defending champion Graham Hill’s two-over 73.

Pronk, who represents Sunningdale Golf Club, considers his victory at Weston particularly memorable after learning some unique history of the Club.  “I found out today that Arnold Palmer had his first PGA tournament win here in 1955,” said Pronk. “It’s an honour to win a Championship here at Weston.”

The day concluded with a special ceremony to recognize three individuals who have had long term affiliations with Weston, a club that is rich in the history of accomplishments by its members and professionals. The Golf Association of Ontario is proud to recognize Bob Harvey, Tom Woddall and Herb Holzscheiter for their accomplishments and contributions to the game of golf.

The GAO would like to thank Beck’s Non-Alcoholic Beer for their generous support of the Men’s Champion of Champions, and the staff at Weston Golf and Country Club for hosting this year’s championship.
