Byrne a Step Closer to Second Consecutive Men's Match Play Title

Port Carling, ON: Four golfers remain following the fourth round of the Golf Association of Ontario's Men's Match Play Championship at the Lake Joseph Club in Port Carling, Ontario.

2007 champion David Byrne of Essex defeated Picton's Luc McKaw 4&3 under sunny skies and cooler temperatures this morning at the Muskoka area course. He now faces Dave Bunker of Woodbridge in the semi-finals this afternoon in a repeat of the 2007 quarter-finals, which Byrne won in a close 1up victory. Bunker bestest Cam Burke of Baden, Ontario this morning with a birdie putt from just off the eighteenth green for the 1up win.

The Donalda Club's Patrick Williams beat out Gary Young of Mississauga 3&2 to face Brad Larente of Cambridge who topped Mitch Sutton of London after two extra holes.

Semi-final action continues this afternoon, with the final 18-hole round getting under way on Thursday morning.
