In an effort to continue the development of golf coaches in Ontario and to enhance the athlete experience, Golf Ontario has implemented coaching policies at all Golf Ontario events.

Coaches

It is expected that many players will have their personal coaches on site at some point during the competition. Generally, all Coaches who meet minimum requirements (see appendix B for definition) are welcome, but must notify Golf Ontario staff before accessing the tournament site.  Any Coaches not registered with the Golf Ontario tournament staff will be treated by officials as a spectator.

Coaches can:

  1. Work with athletes on course during the practice as long as the group maintains a reasonable pace of play;
  2. Work with athletes before and after competitive rounds;
  3. Watch during competitive rounds but must remain on the cart part and a minimum of 50 yards from his or her athlete;
  4. Access practice facilities (see appendix A)

Coaches cannot:

  1. Offer advice during a competitive round;
  2. Solicit business during the championship;
  3. Access the practice facilities without a badge (see appendix A);
  4. Offer rulings during the competition to any participating athletes.

Appendix ‘A’ - Practice Facilities

Golf Ontario will rope all practice facilities during the week of the championship whenever possible. Only players and coaches registered with the Golf Ontario tournament staff may access these areas.

Parents and spectators are not allowed to access these areas.  Signs will also be posted communicating this message.

Appendix ‘B’ – Definition of a Coach

For the purpose of Golf Ontario Championship events, Golf Ontario defines a Coach as a PGA of Canada member or NCCP Certified CNC or CDC coach, who has been identified by an athlete competing in the competition as their Coach of Record.

All inquiries about these coaching policies and procedures should be directed to Golf Ontario.

Entries are open to Female Amateur golfers who:

  • Have not reached their 17th birthday by midnight of August 1, 2017 and;
  • Are Golf Ontario members of a Golf Ontario-member golf club or Gold members of the Golf Ontario Public Player Program and have a current Golf Canada Handicap Factor of 36.4 or less visible on the Golf Canada Score Centre at the time of online registration through the completion of the championship
